Resveratrol

Resverastrol is a chemical compound that is found in several plants when they are under attack from viruses such as fungi or bacteria. It is also found in grapes, constituents of red wine, berries including blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, peanuts and some pine plants. The experiments done on mice and rat have indicated that resveratrol is a miracle drug which has several benefits.

Adverse effects of Resveratrol

Most of the studies done regarding Resveratrol have reported that it is a miracle drug that helps in fighting major diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart diseases. While the health benefits of resveratrol seem promising, one study has indicated that it may stimulate the growth of breast caner cells in human body. This is very similar to phytoestrogen while other studies actually contradict this report. They reveal that it slows down the development of blood vessels which prevent cancer. Some scientists have said that pregnant women or women who are planning to become pregnant should not use this product. Some have advised that resveratrol should not be taken by children under the age of 18 but no studies have concluded how resveratrol affects their natural development.
